Tyler Terens Joins the Chicago Fire’s Broadcast Team

Before joining the Chicago Fire’s broadcast team, Tyler Terens was a student at Hobart College where he played soccer and was twice named to the Liberty League’s All-Academic team. He then went on to work for VISTA Worldlink before joining the team’s broadcast team. The shutdown of the coronavirus put a wrench in those plans. In the meantime, Terens will be able to see more MLS games and gain experience under Meola and White.

Tyler Terens played soccer at Hobart College

Tyler Terens is a former soccer player who earned his degree from Hobart College. Hobart and William Smith Colleges are both private liberal arts colleges in Geneva, New York. They trace their history back to the Geneva Academy founded in 1797. Terens, a junior, played soccer for the Hobart College team from 2011 to 2015.

Terens is currently a sports broadcaster for ESPN. He played soccer for Hobart College, but he has worked for other companies as well. He worked for a local radio station before he began his career in sports broadcasting. His senior year, he joined WHWS and hosted a weekly talk show.

He joined the Chicago Fire’s broadcast team

Tyler Terens is a former US soccer player who joined the Chicago Fire’s broadcast team this year. He previously worked for VISTA Worldlink, which holds the streaming rights to many soccer leagues, and called games remotely from their headquarters in Miami. He caught the attention of Tony Meola, who does color commentary for the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer. Meola recommended Terens to the Chicago Fire’s ownership, and he signed on as an announcer. After a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Terens returned to the broadcast team in the spring of 2020 to continue covering games.

Originally from Scotch Plains, N.J., Terens has called more than 500 soccer matches, including games in the Concacaf Champions League and Gold Cup. He has also called games for the USL and NCAA. Before joining the Fire’s broadcast team, Terens worked as a radio broadcaster for several local radio stations.

He will return to the booth in 2022

Former MLS defender Tyler Terens has been named the new play-by-play announcer for Chicago Fire FC. Terens has worked for several sports organizations, including VISTA Worldlink, which has streaming rights to multiple soccer leagues. In this role, Terens will call games remotely from VISTA’s headquarters in Miami. The former US National team goalkeeper Tony Meola, who also does color commentary for Chicago Fire FC, took notice of Terens and recommended him to the Chicago Fire’s ownership. Terens will call one match for Chicago Fire FC before the Chicago Fire’s COVID-19 pandemic, but will return to the booth in 2022.

Tyler Terens will make his Chicago Fire debut on June 19, when the Fire travel to Columbus for a game against the Crew. This game marks the Crew’s last game in the historic Crew Stadium. In addition, Chicago Fire is awaiting word from the MLS office on whether White or Tony Meola will be announcing the match. The Chicago Fire’s next games will be against FC Cincinnati on June 23, Philadelphia Union on June 26, and Atlanta United FC on July 3.
